I am new to Volvo penta. I ran the motor for a while today, then drained the water so it doesn't freeze. I took a plug out of the motor block on each side and drained water out. I also disconnected a hose from the impeller on the front. Did I get all the water out?

Ayuh,.... That's a SBChevy ain't it,..??

There oughta be 2 plugs down low on the block, 2 more plugs up over the 1st 2, on the bottom of the manifolds....
Then yer raw water pump, like ya did...
I also pull the Big hose off the circulatin' water pump, it sometimes hides enough to do damage...
'n if ya got P/Steerin', the cooler might be hidin' more water, 'n it Will split...

Alright. So no matter how hard I look, I cannot find more than one drain plug on each side of my GM 305. I pulled both those plugs, and several hoses a noted before. I have searched high and low. Can you post a picture of these other plugs bond-o, or somehow make it more obvious where they might be? Draining my mercruiser was easy.

There are only 2 block plugs, one on each side of the engine block.
There is a plug on the back of each exhaust manifold.
Remove the both hoses from the raw water pump on the front of the crank shaft and drain the water out of the hoses. That also drains the power steering cooler that is in the inlet hose from the transom.
Remove the large dia. hose from the circulation pump (above the raw water pump) and drain it.

Job done.
