I just had to get a new prop shaft and 2 bearings and a few seals all new in my volvo penta sx 1995 outdrive. I was told that volvo parts are more expensive than others and this job at a marina would have cost me $2,500-$2,800. My uncle is a marine tech and he did most of the work and sent the outdrive to a volvo tech he trusts for the rest. I payed $1,100 at the end of the day for parts and labor. Did I get a good deal?
A little backround, (my old prop shaft had so much runout that it was impossible to straighten it, and there were no used prop shafts available. There was a vibration while accelerating and I was told it was caused by the major runout and the couple of bad bearings. My gimble bearing was good and so were all the u joiunts, and I had no water in the outdrive.
