1990 Merc 350 Magnum and this is my first I/O winterization.

-hull drain already out

-removed drive and changed the gear oil

-stuffed an old towel in the drive bellows to keep debris out

-covered trim rams in plastic and supported them so they aren't sitting on the ground

-removed what looks like the riser drains, poked through the gunk and not much of anything came out

-removed hoses to manifolds, lots of water drained out

-removed power steering cooler hose, got a good amount of water from that

-removed big hose on circulating pump, got a lot of water out of that

-removed both drain cocks from engine block, poked both drains clear and got a ton of water out of each side

-turned steering ram so it isn't exposed and coated the motor over with some silicon spray to keep away corrosion

-put the cover on the boat

Sounds good--

1 question
Did you drain your exhaust manifolds at a low point -- Mine has 2 plags near the rear-- the hoses you mentioned may be =

Also Bounce brand dryer sheets or moth balls help deter rodents if you are storing outside or in a building that is not sealed.

i pulled the hoses going into the manifolds at the bottom because that appeared to be the lowest point.

do the rodents still crawl in with the cover tightly over the boat? i never thought of rodents but i also haven't seen any in a while because i have this cat that kills them. he brings them to my door step like offerings to show his worth or something.

sounds good except you forgot a few things, fog your motor, run fuel stabilizer threw it, change engine oil +filter and also change fuel filter.

ok, yeah, i changed the oil and filter, forgot to mention that because i did it a couple weeks before winterizing but the oil is fresh.

i can't fog it now because i just finished removing the drive and draining everything, i can add some fuel stabilizer to the tank and hook up the trailer and drag it around to mix it up.

i remember Don saying that fogging isn't really necessary for a few months of storage? is it really that important?

Good job, For someone not doing for a living and no training you covered all the bases. And don is right about fogging. On my end of deal customers like to see that puff of smoke in the spring. I just don't use alot of fog oil just enough to get a puff on spring start up.
