OK, my first year owning a boat and I blew it-I did nothing to winterize my outboard except make sure all the water was out.

Left the battery connected, boat uncovered, it sits in a boatyard waiting spring/summer cleaning.

Have not tried starting it yet(its out of the water) and the battery still has juice.

Any suggestions before i make things worse by simply turning the key and hoping it runs?

(please dont flame me too bad) :)

Give it a fresh tank of fuel and start it. If it don't start then worry about what's wrong.

No need to change the plugs-spray it with lube- or put some type of fuel additive due to not being winterized?

Just a little worried.

Thanks!

Hi Steve
You know most folks do just as you did. Most do it year after year. Outboards are fairly resilient and tend to put up with abuse. If it will make you feel better give each cyl. a squirt of 2-stroke oil and roll the motor over a few times. I do how ever recomend proper storage in the future.
