ive searched for the anwsers to my questions before creating this post, so sorry if i just overlooked it. but two questions i have is did you like the center console after buying it? and i have a little bit of a back problem. so im wondering if standing up may not be to good for my back if hitting waves. and one other i guess would be when setting down is this better. i currently have a bowrider and like the side console. but the center console just looks as if it would be fun to drive. kinda like an amusement park ride i guess.

when I was a teen my dad had an 18' starcraft alum cc with an outboard..... I really liked it... I used it on lake erie, sandusky bay and on the huron and sandusky rivers...... sandusky bay is VERY often very rough with wakes from ships and waves coming from all directions..... the cc was very comfortable in the rough as I could anticipate the waves and let the boat move under my feet so I took less shock to my body... Much easier on the bones than any comparable sized side console I have ever been on

Well said I just let my legs flex as you go. I had ours for 8 years and would not trade for the world.......

Feel the same, thats why im turning my dual side console into a cc, not as bad standing as sitting on the old bones.

I don't like CC's - I love them.

My first experiences with them was in BW Montaucks with a sailing club setting race course marks and crash (rescue) duties.

Room to move all around the boat and the comfort of standing and having better visibility in all directions. None or minimal soft upholstery to get torn or stained. Lots of interior deck room for stuff.

All the fun of boating with very little fussing.

it's the only way to go. I even often drive my dual console standing up! Using the knees as shocks saves the back. Be sure to have good support shoes (rather than deck shoes) for long hauls, or stand on something soft and flexible (if the floor of the boat is that way, you have a problem!)

But watch for this when you shop: if the windshield and bars around it are the wrong height FOR YOU the bar is crossing your line of vision. Test this standing and sitting, and if you are married or have boating children, have them test it as well. The probelm can be over come by sitting on a boat cushion, or maybe standing on one.

A leaning post is good but I think you want to be able to sit with back support on smooth water--at least at my age 52.

You didn't say where you were boating, but the thing that gets pointed out to me is that a CC offers much less protection from the elements or spray than side consoles. I fish early in the season and late in the season and at 40 degrees and a 15 knot breeze a little protection is huge.

Everyone down here with center consoles either has an enclosure http://www.jeanscanvas.com/new_ttop.htm or they wear Grundens http://www.grundens.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=27 or something similar. It's just not an issue for those of us who fish year round.

Having said that, I run a walkaround with full enclosure and a small heater when it gets cold out. :D

my wife said,if i buy a boat with a cabin she will come out with me.that is why i bought a cc.if you use the boat mostly for fishing, there is nothing like a cc.i have a enclosure around the console and the sides open and connect to the sides of the boat to give added protection.
