Re: difference in spark plugs

Never heard of a magna power plug. I'm guessing it's probably one of those that's better than sliced bread, increases your power and gas mileage, makes your engine run cleaner and smoother, and gives you an unbelievable love life. Seriously, whatever plug your engine manufacturer says to use is the right plug (unless you can find a service bulletin advising of an alternate for certain running conditions).

Re: difference in spark plugs

Magna-Power was Chrysler's marketing name for electronic capacitor discharge ignition. Standard bent electrode plugs are dangerous to use in these engines. It was used quite loosely to describe several different ignition types including the Motorola Magna-Power with distributor and Magna-Power II, a first generation non distributor ignition which was really poorly designed and regularly failed.

These engines use a surface gap spark plug. The gap is NOT adjustable but is set at the factory. This plug is very cold running compared to bent electrode plugs and will help to keep you from melting holes in the piston crowns. Use a Champion L20V, UL18V, NGK BUHW, or BUHX. You can also use the Mercury Champion L76V.

There ya' go, I learned something today. I was assuming (yep, that word) that plug was a marketing gimmick like the split fire or one of those.

Re: difference in spark plugs

Various model Chrysler engines in the larger sizes came stock with either Champion L20V or UL18V. In reality, ANY of the plugs I mentioned are a good choice. However, My personal preference is the L20V. Be aware that a while back Champion did change their numbering system and these plugs are now something like 322
