Differences between 86 an 87 OMC cobra?

Is there any difference between a 86 and 87 OMC cobra stern drive? What about engine? I have a 87 OMC cobra and want to buy a OMC service manual but can only find 1986 manual. Will it be accurate for my boat?

Someone else will chime in, but about that time, the engines changed from one piece to two piece rear main seal, which changed things.

Get the manual for your engine Model Number. Don't go by the year of the boat, it may not be the same as engine year.
I also seriously doubt if anyone has sat down with both an 86 and 87 and compared everything

I have had both of those and could not tell any notable difference.
Here is a 1987...Hard to find and he has only 2 left.

I suggest you buy that one.

I have one for 1987. I am planning to sell it with my 1987 King Cobra drive, gimbal, trim pump, harness etc etc etc....... (if I can ever get it ready to sell on ebay!!)

I paid about $100 for a reprint!

If you can get an OEM manual for $77 + shipping, BUY IT!!

before you buy that manual. (and it may still be ok)

Post your engine model number here and I'll look it up in mine.

You may have an 88 for all that matters. It's very common for a boat manufacturer to use last years model in this years boat. Someone since then could have swapped it out for god knows what!!




I don't remember which model you said you have, but they are all listed in my manual..... 2.3L all the way to the 7.5L. My manual is an OMC#507605......I think that's what "Searayman" has listed for buy it now on ebay.

I would have paid $77 in a NY minute! if I could have found one when I was looking!!!

You can email the Seller on Ebay he will check your number with the manual.
