Hi, Quick question what is the difference between the Standard 1961 40 hp Evinrude and the 40 hp Lark 3 Evinrude? Thanks, Paul

Hi Paul,
I don't have the specs in front of me, but I believe the Lark had the generator option and automatically came with electric start. The standard had electric start at an option and didn't come with the generator. Beyond that, it was trim stuff - paint and tack-ons...

Re: Differences in '61 Evinrude models

Thanks Scott, I recently bought a parts list off E-Bay so far it looks like the same motor except for the Gearcase Extension mine,s one solid piece this show two piece clam shell over the gear case but my model #35524 is different from what it says it covers (35022 and 35023) Big Twin Any ideas on where I could pick up a generator Delco Remy # or any crossover I was even thinking about trying to make a small engine alternater work but I'd rather keep it stock. Thanks Again, Paul

Re: Differences in '61 Evinrude models

Hi Paul,
I should be getting a 1960s Evinrude 40 electric shift some time this Fall. A neighbor has it, took it off his boat 20 years ago when it supposedly blew a cylinder, and it is buried in his shed. I told him I'd buy it, but he hasn't "had the time" to dig it out yet. Being the electric shift, it does have the generator system on it... I can let you know when/if it makes the light of day...
