My current set up is a 1974 Mercruiser one drive, 140HP. I've been thinking about getting a later transom assembly from a 1979 or so. This would take advantage of the new style trim switches and the current cutout pattern. Would everything else still work from my `74 set up? I'm aware I would also need a `79 inner transom plate to go with my gimbal assembly. Will the motor mounts still work with the older engine bell housing? I know at some point they changed.
Thanks

What Bond movie was your favorite?

You can use that gimbal housing with your transom plate. Don't going falling in love with the hsg just because of the sender/switch unless you know that they are pretty new.
