I didn't ever think to ask here until I saw the first auto AC thread, but now that I see there are some experts here...

I have a 1996 Chev Lumina, 101,000 miles. I've had it looked at ( and spent about $1000 on it last year) and here's the problem as I understand it.

AC will work for a few minutes, then blows the "AC Cont" 10 amp fuse, then doesn't work. Replace fuse, works for a few minutes. I had the whole system tested, refilled, new compressor, accumulator, orifice tube, wires traced, even new alternator etc.

This car has 2 fans behind the radiator. I've noticed lately that the one on the passenger's side is always on when the car is running, but I never see the one on the driver's side run and wonder if this is related to my problem. What is the operating sequence of these two fans? I've also noticed that my engine temp gauge is fluctuating more than it used to, probably related to 2nd fan not cycling?

Anyone have any suggestions? I'm getting to the point where I hesitate to put much more $$$ into the problem.?.
