I bought a new lund classic SS 1775 with a 90 hp 4 stroke mercury from the U.S.( I live in Canada) late last year. When I got it in the water this spring I found that turning the steering wheel right was like driving a car, turning left was almost impossible and you had to use a lot of force with 2 hands. If you let go of the wheel the boat veers quickly right. This problem occurs when travelling at speed, at idle or slow speeds the wheel turns pretty good both ways. I took it back to the dealer and they said some cables were bunched up and they re-ran everything and said it would be better, well got home and took it out a few weeks later and no difference. I really don't want to trailer it 4 hours back to Fargo so is there any advice anyone can provide on something I can maybe look at myself? Or is this normal for a console steering boat( I only ever used tillers up to now)? I just can't see having to reef on the wheel with 2 hands to be normal. I tried adjusting the trim tab left with no improvement. seems dangerous to me because if I have to turn left to avoid something( rock, boat, waves, etc.) the difficulty doing this and the time it takes could have bad consequences. Any advice would be appreciated.
