Hello, my 4.3l 2bb Mercruiser s/n: OC861086 ('90 SeaRay 200 BR) has this consistent issue where after starting and running the engine in the lake, then shutting if off once it is up to temp (145F of the gauge), it requires ~ 6+ seconds of cranking before it re-fires. When cold, the engine starts up immediately. But it takes more cranking to start once the engine is up to temp. Carb issue? Fuel pump issue? What to look for check?

thanks,

Jason

I'm thinking you need these two issues together. One post for this and another for the stalling issue when shifting, I think they are related. My first thought is your engine and carb. Would check (not replace) all the regulars, plugs, filters, wires, dist cap, carb, fuel pump and compression. With your engine stalling during the shift process may be indicating a weak cylinder or fuel issue. I guess the interuptor switch could be hanging but the engine should continue to run if everything else is ok.
