Looking to purchase a new Panasonic DMC-FZ250 and have read some of the reviews but I have a question about memory. I understand that the memory that comes with most cameras is inadequit therefore I'm looking to purchase additional "SD" memory. I see 512mb memory card for $200 and for $300, with the difference being (other than $100)that the $300 card specifies "error free".
Could someone explain (in layman terms)the signifinance of "error free" and why this is advantageous?

My Kodak uses SD cards also. Never heard of the "error free" before. Sounds licke a gimmick to me, but that price is sky high. BoatBuoy's pricing is much more in line with what you should pay.

Your getting smoked on the price of a card.

Error Free is normally a tern used in a faster speed card. SD Cards (and most falash memory cards) come in sizes and differant speeds. The higher the speed the "more" reliable the card. If you were going to use the camera in a multi shot mode where it would take a quick sequence of photos (some cameras will do this but not all) let's say a few shots per second (or even in a movie mode)I would recommend a fast memory card.

If the camera is for home recreation use a normal card will do fine.

A 512mb with a 8x speed is I believe the slowest and the 32X is fast. There are faster too. You should be able to pick up a 512mb card for around $60.

Bob
