dip setting for trim gauge (2 or 3 wire question)

I have a 2001 Yam 250 SS2 and a new digital tach. The trim sender (2 wire) was bad and the replacement I got was a 3 wire. Should the sw1 dip switch be on or off? Does it matter that I have a 3 wire sender on a 2001?

I just found out about dip swithes tonight, so don't know how it's currently set. It works, but the gauge reads 1/2 tilt when the motor is full down tilt. Is there a difference in the 2 wire and 3 wire senders that would cause this?

thanks,
Kenny

Re: dip setting for trim gauge (2 or 3 wire question)

you got the wrong sender.
if your tach has 3 dip switches you can set it for 3 wire.
I dont know if the arm is different.
on a recent post about a 90 hp rigging there is a link to a real good pic/instructions on switch settings.

With sw1/off, it works just fine!! Does it matter that it's the wrong sender if it works?

The gauge kit installation instructions (with tach/speedo settings) is below. I don't know why this document is such a secret. Maverick's website is the only place I can find it and would have not done so without this forum. It answers a lot of questions I see on this forum. You'd think it would be more readily available, like from Yamaha!
