I'm restoring a 1971 Trisonic, ford v8 188hp, R outdrive. I have a small oil leak from the dip stick holder at the oil pan. It looks like it is seeping from between the metal plate that is rivetted to the pan and the pan. Can this be sealed with something?

Re: Dip stick oil leak

Get it real clean, dry and free of grease and oils... use JB Weld. That is not a spot subject to any pressure.

Bob

Thank you for the information. Should the paint be removed also?

Rrebars1,if your able to take the pan off, clean it and use silver solder to fix it.Had the same problem on an old car of mine and the solder worked like a charm. Also nice to clean any sludge out in the pan too to keep clean oil clean.

Re: Dip stick oil leak

I can't take the pan off w/o pulling the engine. I applied the JB weld after sanding the area down to bare metal. I'll let you know how it works. When the time comes to pull the engine, I'll solder it.

Thanks.
