I read a message in the General Outboard Discussions (non-repair topics) Forum under the topic of CD Ignition (http://www.outboardrepairs.com/topics/007881.html) posted by Schematic regarding a Direct Volt Adapter (DVA) circuit. In the message, dated 2002-03-10, Schematic makes reference to a schematic that he was going to create to help 12Footer with an ignition problem. I would like to get a copy of the schematic if possible. Does anyone have a schematic for a DVA (peak voltage) adapter? Thanks.

Re: Direct Volt Adapter Schematic Needed

Welcome to the board, Ziggy.

I've found this one to work for me. When testing the +200v or so you often measure on an outboard, I use a 1/100 resistor divider network in front. Say 220K (1/2W) and 2.2K. Just plug your VOM in the other end.

That circuit will work up to a supply voltage of over 15v, and draws hardly any current, so it runs fine from a 9v battery.

You'll want to replace the left hand 0.1uF cap with something much higer for slow signals. I find something around 47uF useful around engines.

Good luck!
(If Schematic has something, I'd certainly like to see that too!)

Paul,

Thanks so much for the reply. I'll gather up the parts this weekend or early next week and give it a go.

Schematic, can you post your circuit please?

-Ziggy
