Long story short... went through a marine parts finder and ordered a carb well had a prob with fuel inlet stripping and sent back for repair now I just got it back. The high idle cam has a increase in the lobe which means if I hook up linkage when it is cold (thicker part of lobe)once the choke opens the stop screw will not rest on the lobe (which would be thinner part of lobe). If I set-up linkage once choke is open I am afraid the shifter will not return to nuetral or even worse stretch or break throttle cable.
Can I just turn the climatic choke adjustment so the choke is always open and other than the first start of the day what problems will this cause? Thanks
Boat info:
1980 Seaswirl
OMC 140 400 Stringer
original carb was a Rochester 17059053
New Carb: rochester 7029105 (apparently rebuilt to marine specs)

DANGER, that is what the high idle cams are like on automotive. If they sent you an automotive carb, it will be a safety (explosion and fire) hazard on a boat and should NOT be used.

I was told the carb was rebuilt to marine specs with the inverted j-tubes and what ever else they used.
