Live in South east FL. Have a great running 1998 Yamaha 150 HP. Lower unit chatters a lot going in and out of gear and makes a "Ring" when taken out of gear. I am thinking the clutch dog is about shot. <br />Any reasonable ship out rebuild places?
i am thinking you need to check your control box,cables,powerhead linkage and method of shifting.<br /> i see to many of those gearcases go over 3000 hours with a crabber and its rare they fail. changing a shift clutch, if the gear is not damaged, is not bad. gets expensive when you have to buy gears. if you shift quickly and firmly into and out of gear you should get a solid thunk. antying else and its either mechanical failure or operator error.
