Cleaning out my parent's house and pulled a Johnson 15 hp Seahorse from the basement. Model no. is FDE 10, Serial No. is 217555. Great shape. Has electric start written on the front by speed control. Does anyone know the year, and does this outboard have any value? Not sure what to do with it!

Email me at greycup180@yahoo.com, if this is allowed.

Thanks.

Re: Discovered Johnson 15 hp Seahorse Electric Start - Any Value?

It's a 1956. The only year Johnson made a 15 until the fibreglass cowling versions of the mid '70's. Running, it has value. I actually just sold a FD-10 (the E = Electric) for $350 a couple of weeks ago. It was a great running engine. What it's worth depends on where you are, demand and if it's running or not. And the electric start versions are not very common.

If you want to try and get it running read the top secret info at the top of the forum under awakening a sleeping outboard.

And shouldn't your email be Jets180@yahoo.com? :)

p.s. I also sent you the parts manual for the engine.

Thanks! I will look into changing to Jets180 now that we are finally back where we belong!

Obviously I live in Winnipeg. When my Dad stored the motor it was running just fine. I will probably sit on it for awhile, maybe post on eBay, etc. Thanks for the manual.

Please forward my Greycup180@yahoo.com if you know someone that might be interested in this collector's item!

I'd rather see the motor in a home that will take care of it and not abuse it! Sentimental reasons.

Thanks.
