Moved in here about 3 months ago and have had a bunch of problems with the appliances. The current one is with the dishwasher getting glasses clean. There is always a film on the glasses when dishwasher is done. We bought a new one from sears about a month ago which is a Kenmore Ultrawash. We use jet dry, cascade liquid and the water from the waterheater is super hot however the glasses still have a film on them. House does not have a water softener. Could this be the problem or is this maybe a water drain problem and dirty water is not always leaving the dishwasher? Any help would be appreceiated.

Re: Dishwasher

Is your dishwasher level?on some dishwashers you have to put a loop in the drain pipe for a trap, the film wouldnt look like little white flakes would it?I would try a hole house water filter to see if that helped, does your skin feel funny after showers?

Re: Dishwasher

Probably minerals in the water. Try this out: Set a small bowl upright on the top rack of the dishwasher and pour a half a cup or so of vinegar in it next time you run the dishwasher. When it runs the vinegar will splash out and dissolve the minerals. Your glasses should come out sparkling and the inside of the dishwasher will shine up too! It won't stink up your dishes or anything. I do this about every fifth load since trying it, made a huge difference here, I have no softener.

Re: Dishwasher

Test the hardness of your water. Kits are available at home improvement stores. That'll tell you if it's most likely your water or your dishwasher. I'd guess with 80% certainty that it's the water itself.

Thanks again guys. I will try the vinigar trick first and if that works I will have to see about getting a water softener.

Just drop your water on the ground, it it cracks the concrete, then it's "hard" :)

There are just some posts you can't resist ;)

Why not just get the dishwasher a new sponge and some better soap..... tell her to scrub harder.... or do the glasses yourself! :D
