I have a boat that has a points type distributer I would like to change to a electronic ignition system what are the pros and cons to changing.

Pros are Many.......<br />Cons are Few......<br />Depends more on just What motor we're Talking about......

I agree with bondo. I have an electronic ignition and haven't had a problem with it yet. Are you planning on replacing the distributor or getting a conversion kit? I hear that the pertronix conversion kits can burn up if you leave the key on when the engine isn't running. Thats about the only negative i can think of. A lot of kits promise a performance increase, but i'm skeptical. The thing I like about them is they're maintenance free, doesn't get much better than that!

ebasicpower@com - sells marine parts only .<br />complete kit - wires-coil-distributor - $ 280.<br />Simple install - you need a timing light.<br />Or Mallery has a complete kit for $210 - $230 at any ships store (at Merc dealer $500 )<br />I have installed over 100. Your ignition <br />problems are over....<br />Anything over above prices - somone is not <br />playing fair...
