step 1. bring engine no 1 cyl to top dead center on compression stroke. do this by putting finger in no 1 hole and bump motor over you will fill it suck and then start to blow align marks on balencer to tab ths will be TDC on comp stroke. <br />step 2 follow no 1 spark plug wire to the cap mark cap.<br />step 3. place cap on dist where cap and wires fit the best mark the dist housing where this is.<br />step 4. install dist point rotor to mark on housing drop dist. if it dont drop all the way roll motor over to align oil pump shaft.<br />step 4. set base timming.<br />try that no 1 can be anywhere on the cap as long as it starts with 1 and follows fireing order and corect rotation. hope it helps A.D.
