Distributor cap issues 5.7 mercruiser

Ok guys I went to the local marine store today and picked up a new distributor cap that is supposed to fit my 5.7 mercruser with thunderbolt ignition. But get home and it is deffinately not the correct one now im just trying to figure out what kind of distributor I have pictures posted below

Didnt see any part numbers on the old one but then again i didnt look that hard. Any help would be appreciated.

Someone put an automotive distributor in your engine.. What else other than the ignition system and the loud noises is wrong with your engine?
Automotive is not safe in marine engines (not spark protected), plus the distributors have different advance characteristics than marine. Might be the cause of your noise.

Don,

That distributor was in it when i purchased it. I posted a new video to youtube and put a link in the other thread. I think i found the source of the tapping. If you could take a look at that and comment it would be much appreciated (maybe point me in the correct direction as to fixing it). As far as the distributor goes I take it I need to change it to marine could you tell me what kind I should go with? I have never had any issues with the boat as of yet other than the tapping. Just trying to get the boat ready for summer. Maintenance ect.
