Volvo Penta AQ255a280 1977? GM350. Has a distributor with a flat cap...book shows all tower type caps. Anybody know what make this is? Its a Volvo unit from a later year I believe. Would like to know the type to order a tune up kit, or possible upgrade to Pertronix. Brown cap, side vent, side oil cap, side green wire to coil minus terminal....Thanks

Re: Distributor make

The flat caps were usually on Mallory distributors. You will probably find a metal plate with a manufactures name and number riveted to the distributor.

Re: Distributor make

I believe I have the same distributo on my 75 GM350 OMC, Malorey Distributor, can't remember the actual model though I would have to look. somthing like YL670EV. Here is a link with a bunch of mallory marine distributors and models http://www.centuryperformance.com/mallory/dizzymatrix15.asp it also seems to have a ton of info on diagnosing problems as well.
