Hey guys, I've got a 1985 omc 3.8l 229. The retainer clip on the shaft of the oil pump that holds the 2 shafts together broke, I ordered one but it's going to take a while (2 months to get here) is there anything I can use instead of that clip? I was looking at some PEX pipe that I had kicking around and it holds the shafts tight I'm just not sure. Any help would be appreciated! I was also wondering if the choke heat tube that's on the top of the manifold is just a standard part, it's the peice that goes into the intake then fuel line into the carb

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,..... Ya might possibly be able to use the shaft alignment clip from another Chevy V-motor to connect yer oil pump, 'n not have to wait so long,...
But, Ya, it's a Necessary part,....

Check the listin's here at iboats for the choke stove to fit yer manifold,.....

Welcome aboard krtech1:

That shaft and clip (I think) you can try getting from a local Chevy parts provider, maybe even NAPA. Is that who you went through? (I'm not sure about using PEX).
