does anyone know if a mid 80's omc v-6 3.8L will interchange with a 4.3L of the same vintage, both being electronic ignition? or a link of where i can research it?

the 3.8 (229 Chev) marine engine never used electronic ignition - VP, OMC and Mercruiser all used the points distributor on all years of it.
Now if you are suggesting putting a Pertronix ignitor in a 3.8 distributor, then it will become a 4.3 electronic distributor.
