Hi,

cleared this post with Admin5 first.

I am a keen constructor of things and would prefer to make my own "danforth type" anchors rather than purchase. Anyone have drawings or plans that they would be willing to share?

I am planning on making 3 anchors for a 17" bowrider so each one probably only needs to be relatively small. Anchoring will be done by and large on peacefull lakes in moderate wind conditions.

Thanks
Andrew

WHY?

Buy the anchors and make an anchor roller.

Re: DIY Anchors

If you need plans. borrow an anchor from a friend. Take your measurements and adapt accordingly to your needs. I can appreciate your desire to do it yourself, but in this case I cannot see how you can fabricate one for less than 4-5 times the cost of buying one.

But a danforth anchor isn't exactly rocket science and you should be able to take an existing unit and fabricate accordingly. Are you trying to make this out of some special material??? If so, what is it... Your secret will be safe with us here in the states. ;)
