Hi, I have a 22ft cuddy cabin 1988 sea ray, when I'm the only one on the boat it rides to the left a little bit the opposite side to what the driver and auxiliary are on, seems strange to me the other day I was putting a new fish finder In drilling a hole at the back around the engine ( inboard by the way no trim tabs) and water came out when I drilled the hole, if this model of boat does have boyencey tanks I'd like to put a bung in it to drain the water out

were you drilling thru the transom? I had an 87 model and I never saw any. How much water came out?

If there's any floatation aid in that boat, it'd be foam, not a buoyancy tank. As Joe asked... how much water? It's an old boat. Sounds like you have a wet transom due to water infiltration.

+1 on the wet boat. Probably water in the transom, but certainly can be elsewhere.

no buoyancy tanks to be had, only wood in the core of the transom and other structural members, plus foam in the chambers of the hull.

time to start investigating some more.

Wet transom usually means wet stringers... and if not yet a soon wet floor. Never a good sign...

I just want to confirm what you mean: I assume you mean that you drilled into the transom, and before drilling through, water came out.

Take a look at some of the restoration threads for what all the comments above mean. If you have water in your transom you may have a rotten transom, which is often accompanied by rot in other structural elements of the boat. In addition, you may well have water saturated flotation foam. These are structural problems with the boat.

Are there any other signs of problems: soft floors for example?

There should be a bilge pump to drain any water out

i never got too deep into my Sea Ray but in the carver there are side areas that water can get into. Not a 'tank' just an area. My current boat (below) the PO had put corks into the drain holes that lead to the main bilge area. If the water came out prior to drilling all the way thru, wet transom - if came out after all the way thru could be an area that was just holding water.

Yep, no buoyancy tanks in that boat. We had the same boat for 9 years. A lot of wood in that boat, and I suspect you have major rot issues. Our floor was getting spongy when we sold our boat.
