Do all engines (4.3) have an hour meter?

I have a 1990 Glastron with a 4.3L, I looked around to see if there was an hour meter, but couldn't find one.

Of course the possibility is there isn't one, but if there IS one...where would be a standard place to look for it?

Or is this futile as a realistic gauge on how much the motor has been used...as in is the gauge reliable?

If it has one it's on the dash someplace.
Alot of brand new boats do not come with one from the factory.

Paulspaddle No to answer your question. It's an option with most I/O's when the boat is new, . If it's not on the dash you don't have one. I would strongly recommend you get one, if you don't already have one.

Ayuh,... All in All,... In the length of hulls We see here at iboats,...
I'd think there's probably an Hour meter in maybe 30% of the boats out there,....
Maybe 40%.... probably 20%...
And, usually owner added...

The gauges are reliable but easily changed;and a lot of shysters change 'em before selling boat to make it appear to have less hours on it. 'nutcase

ya, 'nutcase....that was where I was going.

I was relating it to a car odometer or larger machinery (combine) where tampering is more difficult.....and illegal.

on the newer computer controlled injected motors the data can be down loaded with diagnostic computers.
