I need a new anode for the rear gearcase on my 1993 OMC 5.8 EFI sterndrive. My lower unit model number is 987683.
Im guessing the part number I need is 393023. But thats just it, Im guessing. Is this a common anode that fits multiple years for OMC and Johnson Evinrude drives?
I dont wanna order this thing and find out its wrong one, i have only 3 days before launch. Funny, when I put my lower unit model number in, nothing ever comes up which is why Im not sure this is the right part.
Also, the one Im replacing has a bunch of barnacles and crap all over it. Im assuming, just like the picture below, this anode just comes out the side of the rear gearcase? Im gonna have to chisel away with a screwdriver to get it out, but I wanna make sure it comes out the side before I start brute force beating it out and screw something else up. Any help would be appreciated. Why is there 2 holes at the bottom where the bolt goes in? One is covered in something yellow, Im assuming its the barnacles....and the other one is the bolt. Am I missing something here? Below is a crappy pic. Total newb here.
