do i need a special carburetor tool?

hey. im working on a 1987 yamaha 50..i have disassembled the carb except for the needle valve seat. it looks like a normal socket would fit it but im having trouble with a socket getting in there to get it b/c the little edges that come up around the valve seat where the rod goes thru the float are in the way. a thick socket has no chance of getting in there.you cant use a wrench....has anyone got any ideas.. whats the size of the socket head.. it looks like a 10mm or so but its hard to tell b/c a socket cant go all the way down over the head b/c of those edges around it.. plz help..thx

There are special "thin wall" sockets that are used for many applications. This may be one of them.<br /><br />See if you can catch up with a Mac or Snap On man. I'll bet they have something that will fit.

I just used a grinder and made my own "thin wall" socket.<br /> has worked for close to 20 years.<br /> good luck and keep posting
