Situation:
-new to boats with VRO and oil resevoir
-just noticed oil resevoir has a priming bulb

Question:
- Do I need to prime the oil priming bulb when starting the motor? ...or is it only to be used if the oil resevoir ever goes dry?

I couldn't find a thread on this or a mention of it in the 'Top Secret Files' and cold starting threads.

Normally you would not need to pump the oil bulb. If the oil line was disconected, and you were hooking it up again, then pump the oil bulb a few times to purge the air out of it before connecting it to the engine. Then on the oil tank , take a magic marker and mark the oil tank level after filling. Then mix 50-1 in a six gallon tank, take it for a cruise, afterwards checking the oil tank for a drop in level. Probably a half inch for a six gallon tank. Under normal sircumstance you would not need to pump the oil primer bulb.
