Do I really need a 4 way switch ?

Last year at the end of the boating season I picked up a beautiful 77 Orrion ski boat with a 235 HP OMC out drive. The boat only has 350 hours on it and it was well maintained and kept inside. As with most older boats It needed a little work, to be specific the tilt motor went out. I fixed that no real problem but as the boat was down for the winter in my shop f added a new stereo, fish/depth finder and a marine band radio. I also added a a neutral terminal block and a positive terminal block to connect the new electronics. The boat does not have an electrical panel as it is a ski boat but it came with 2 batteries, a Guest 4 way switch and a stand alone SCR. While I think it was installed properly I want to make sure that it works before I take the boat out this summer. I know I have to get the ignition system wiring worked out as when I was prepping the boat for summer the engine did not shut of when the ignition switch was shut off. Probably constant power to the coil. Most likely a result of my installations under the dash. I know I can fix that but I do not have a drawing of the Guest 4 way switch and separate SCR. I do have a service manual that I will revue and use for wiring guidance on instruments and engine components but for some reason I can not get my head around the simple split between the starting and the house battery system. Can anyone with knowledge or expertise give me some good information or advice. I know this is a lot of info but I am no stranger to electrical issues. Thanks.

welcome aboard

for a battery switch, yes, off, 1, 2, both

get the ignition switch repaired, pull the drive and service the raw water pump. while in there, inspect your OMC stringer splines on the multi-piece vertical driveshaft. change all gear oil. have your alternator checked

Howdy

Need to find out why the motor will not shut OFF. Since it was working before your additions I would suspect the power is coming from part of it. Get a meter and check for power at the coil, then start removing things that were added

Right now I'm trying to hook up the 3 way switch to the scr but not sure which terminals get hooked into the scr.

An SCR to me is a Sicilian Control Rectifier, it could be an isolator.

Have a picture of your "SCR"? as I'm not sure why this device would be in your boat, As Dodge stated, a "SCR" is typically a acronym term for a "Silicon Controlled Rectifier". A thyristor used typically to control AC current..........

Although SCR's can be used in DC circuits as a switch with certain criteria, I'm not so sure you're actually are using this device, I think perhaps you're using this term incorrectly and it is confusing ppl trying to help you.

Perhaps you mean "VSR"......Voltage Sensitive Relay? or "ACR".....Auto Charge Relay(Blue Sea)?, both essentially being the same beast.
