There is no substitute for draining. After that, adding AF is optional.

there should be a sticky up currently covering this issue. Nobody has reported that they used this method and had a cracked block but I promise you that does not mean that nobody who has used this method has had a cracked block. It just means nobody will admit it.

I've been doing it that way for years, but I do drain the block before sucking the antifreeze in.

At any rate, if you chose to use this method, save your 67 bucks. I use a short piece of garden hose with the muffs on one end and a big funnel on the other end and simply pour the antifreeze in from a 5 gallon bucket.
