Dock repairs

Soooo,
I want to repair the dock. I will need a barge to complete my project. The excavator is 1800 lbs so the smallest spud barge I can find will do 60x24. Will I need a Captain to move the barge if it's my barge???
If this goes well I may look to work for profit in this field for a the longer-term. Figured someone on here would steer me in the right direction. Willing to get a captain's license but will my 26 footer qualify for the seatime

Not an expert but; If you are doing work for you, then you do not need a licensed captain to move the barge. You will need a licensed captain (your self or another) to do commercial work.

The next comment would be if you have the sufficient power to move the barge safely and skill, also need insurance to cover any issues which would arise when doing work for your self.
