 Last two days weve had a lot of rain in south Florida. So today after the rain stops my wife and I decide to take the boat out for our 35 Annivarsary cruise. All set to go, turn the key and started to turn over then BANG/CLUNK very scary loud noise, unfortunately, I tried again same thing. So I took off the engine cover and removed the spark arrestor, tipped it sideways and "lots" of water pours out! Because of the design of the engine encloser water leaks directly onto the cover of the engine, and because it has a crack the water followed down the stud and right into the carb. To say the least I was sick! Anyway, I pulled all the plugs, cranked over quite a bit, then poured some Mystery Oil down the carb, cranked again for a few min. installed the plugs, and Thank God it fired right up and ran smooth. I poured more Mystery oil into the carb while it was running about five more time and all is good. Learned a big lesson today.....
All the best. Rick

Yes......you dodged 2 bullets though.

1. 1st one when you didn't break something cranking it while hydrolocked.....

2. 2nd one when you tried to hydrolock it again by pouring MMO in the intake while it was running!

All you needed to do was pull the plugs and crank it to purge the water. pouring a little bit of light oil in the cyls with the plugs out and cranking is probably ok.

Pouring ANY viscous liquid into the carb while it's running is risky.

I'm glad you didn't have any damage!

I'll bet you take steps to prevent water running into the carb now!

Rick

Rick , Thanks for the reply and the advice on pouring MMO into the carb... I should have said I "trickled" MMO into the carb, and didn't really "pour" it in. And yes first thing this morning the problem will be gone. Thanks again..
