Recently bought a boat from a widow who has no knowledge of past history. When I start engine I get no buzzer. Does Merc sell these expensive engines with no protection? I assumed at least low oil pressure and high water temp protection. Only gage is a tach. It uses the Mercury remote throttle system. Is there a simple test I can do to see if it has a buzzer or protection devices? I looked under cowl, didn't see anything I recognized from my previous 2 stroke engines. Called dealer who outfitted boat but he was so busy bad mouthing 4 strokes I didn't get much of anything out of him. I did see some loose wires under cowl with male bullet connectors but didn't see any loose wires with female connectors. I downloaded a service manual but it only has schmatic type drawings, no actual photos to show where protection devices may be located. The electrical drawings in the manual cover a 12 year period and show some with a buzzer and some without. Any help appreciated.
