I'm working on a 1978 Evinrude 140 and got it running right but didn't see any water coming out from the pisser, before I replace the water impeller I wanted to make sure there wasn't an issue with the thermostat but I can't seem to find it? I looked up the parts diagram for the cylinder head but all I see is #43 (318473) water passage cover and #44 (308742) thermostat housing screw but I don't see any actual thermostat?

I actually think I may have found the answer, looks like the thermostat is at the bottom, wow, what a PITA to get to, talk about dumb engineering...

Easier to replace than you might think.----However on a salt water motor you might break the bolts.----Salty motors are a whole new concept in repairs.

The pisser is connected before the thermostats so if the thermostats are blocked it won't stop the pisser.
Check the pisser nozzle & hose for blockages.
