does a depth gauge mess up a fishfinder?

I got a humminbird 610 depthgauge and I ordered the matrix 47-3d fishfinder, is one going to affect the other? I was going to put them on a 3 way (on off on) power switch

They are both sonar instruments. If they are on the same or similar frequencies they will mess each other up.

The fishfinder will show how deep the bottom is.

You don't need redundant systems, your not an airliner. Take the old junk off.
