Does a prop have to be removed to have vent holes drilled?

I am working on a 86 Ebbtide Dynatrak with a 115 Mairner and a SS prop.

I would like to try venting the prop to help it ramp up faster and have read the posts about that procedure.

What I would like to know is do you need to remove the prop first?

I'd imagine the drilling would be easier with it removed, however, if I can access with it on do I need to remove the prop as long as I clean up shaving afterwards etc...?

Also any links to the procedure would be appreciated as well.

GOD BLESS!

I would remove it, and I'd find someone to do the job who knows what they're doing. There's more to it than merely drilling a couple of holes ...

Yes the prop should be removed, and yes you can drill it yourself. I have done this to several props. There is a diagram and instructions in the Sealoc manual, just follow the instructions and you should do fine. If after reading the instructions you do not feel comfortable then take it to a prop shop and they will do it for you.
