Does a sea water pump have a weep hole? 2001 5.7 GS

Hey everyone,
We had the boat, 2001 Glastron GS 249 with a Vovlo Penta 5.7 GS, out for the 2nd time today, and I noticed when the engine was running, it was slinging water from the pulley area. Upon closer inspection, with the engine off, I was able to track down where the water was dripping from.

With the boat on the trailer, it was still dripping from the sea water pump housing (right behind impeller). I took it apart, and the impeller is missing a vane, so that'll be replaced, and I rotated the housing 180 degrees and saw an indentation and that is where I think the water is dripping from (picture with pen pointing to indentation), or in that general area since I put my finger down there and can feel it dripping. Is this a weep hole, or is it just a manufacturing mark in the die they used to make it? What would cause this to leak here? I looked at the exploded diagram from Volvo Penta, and it looks fairly simple Seawater Pump 5.0GLPEFS, 5.7GSPEFS - 7797478 - Volvo Penta It's either the O ring, or the sealing ring, correct? How would I pull the sealing ring out to replace it? Should I replace both the o ring and sealing ring along with the new impeller and have a practically new sealed unit?

Also, is it possible for this to leak constantly with the engine off sitting in the water? Thanks.

If water is coming out of that hole, replace the seal. Probably need to replace the whole pump. That seal seldom cures the problem.

Thanks, Don.
By this time, I've pulled the pump and determined that the bearing is shot by the grinding noise it's making, and the slight lateral wiggle is has, so I took the raw water pump off. I went to the local auto parts store, used a jaw puller and pulled the housing off the shaft/pulley. Used an air chisel to pop the bearing out, and I'm going to try to find a new sealed bearing for it from a local bearing supplier here in Louisville. If I can, it's as simple as pressing the bearing in, pressing the assembly back on the shaft/pulley, and putting in a new seal, impeller, and gasket. It sure would beat the heck out of a $300+ sea water pump. Screw Volvo and their overprices parts! :D

If you do a search there is a post with bearing part numbers and also standard and uprated Viton seals.
