Does my engine reed?.

1989, 50Hp, 3 Cyl, ELPTO, Clamshell. Does it have reed valves and if so what are their function and failures.<br /><br />Just being nosey..... Cheers all..Keith..B...

Yes, Keithy.<br /><br />Reed valves allow air/fuel mix into the crankcase but prevent its exit through the carbs.
