does Pre-Alfa lower unit fit with A1 gen1 uper unit?

Hello everybody
My upper unit has a code 5059613 year 1978 and from a databook i found it is a 898/228/260 model.Can i replace it with an A1gen1 upper unit without modifying anything?The drive shaft of the lower unit is the one with the pin at the top.

Not 100% sure, but I don't think that will work.....
