Does the early 80's inline 115 have A thermostat

Exactly what it says. Does the earley 80's model 115 inline mercury 6 cyl have a thermostat. I am assembling an engine tomorrow and think this information is important. The guy I bout this boat from is insistant that it does. I do not think it does and think this is what ruined the engine in the first place. I start rebuild at 9 am tomorrow, please help before then.

No it doesn't. And get yourself a OEM manual. It will really help.

I have a Clymer OEM manual for 60's to 82. I did not see the thermo in that manual. I think this guy is misinformed and we need to disassemble the whole system to resolve this issue. I will disassemble all the midsection and the lower unit to verify the problem. This will put me down another week from getting in the water, but better safe than sorry.
