you look good....the reason to grind is to get the old materal out....and grind off the top coat of resin to expose the glass fibers in the substraight......this will give you a good mechanical bond to the first layer.

clean all surfaces with acetone......then a wipe with styrene (if you have some....if you dont...then dont worry) then glass

Do be sure to clean out those limber holes in the 2d photo and make sure you are not creating a spot to hold water.

You guys are a great-help on here.
I never could finash a restore on my first boat, very sad i did'nt.
Your help and this fourm makes all the difrence in the world.
I am afraid o ginding to deep, not afraid to grind more???...

as bob mentioned.....

are you going to keep the two plates in the bilge?....i would get rid of them.....they will trap water below them.

when you grind a hull......all you are trying to do...is get rid of any rotten wood residual.......take off the top layer of resin....get down to glass fibers....so when you add your stringer or new glass...you will be bonded to the fiberglass.....not the resin rich area that is floating on top of the glass as well as get rid of any waxed resin on top of the laminating resin.

oops you really know what you are talking about...
I was going to ask about the plates- when I removed them. It was a soupy mess.
So yes then, no plates. Imagining I will just layer up csm and woven roving....
I was going to do a nice pvc drain setup, from the bow with 2.5 solid core pvc it,s super stroung stuff and should ad some real streangth to boat.

the only problem with a pcv drain.....is the fact that it is a tube......any water out side the tube...cannot get in. a tube is more like a conduit, to take water form one area to the other...so to get water out of a total area it isnt the best.

you are better off with clear limber chambers....when you build the boat.......build it so water is supposed to be in there.....and make a way for it to get out.

on page 167 ish of my thread....is a way to foam a boat with out worry of water getting into the foam....

I am confused on the plywood to buy?! This is holding me up.
My origanal choice was the green pt ply, but have want away from this would becouse of all the arguments agenst this wood for boats....
Then I seen in oops Thread This is what you used on the rebuild, So confused?./>

I believe opps dried his pt wood for a long long long time... Just go with some exterior grade ply from hd or lowes... Your looking for minimal to no voids... Aracua is another wood I see used... I think thats how its spelled... Either way buy it amd let it dry as long as your able... Good luck!
