Hey all. Just wondering if the water turbulence at the outdrive looks normal to you. The longer video is at about 1200-1400 rpm, neutral, and the shorter video is at idle. Just seems like a lot of splashing. Also, does the outdrive seem to be sitting unusually low?

these are videos, click to watch.

At idle:

I think that is consistent with what I see from mine. There are two relief valves or ports on each side of the outdrive. I think that is where you are seeing the splashing from.

Unless you have through hull exhaust, then the engine exhaust is being pumped out the outdrive. Not sure about the 'relief valves' posted by the previous poster. I would expect teh outdrive would have pickups to draw in raw water to cool the engine and exhaust would be pumped out through the outdrive and into the water. I would expect this to be normal.

However, there is no indication in the OP as to what type of outdrive and exhaust configuration this boat has, so the rest is pure speculation.

BTW- my entire transom collar and outdrive is completely underwater, so NO I don't think the drive is too low.

That's about how my dads boat looks too. I'd say it's normal.

Oops, forgot to put in it's an Alpha I Gen I outdrive. Through the prop exhaust I believe (I really should know that, but I just got the boat).

I remember my dad's old SeaRay, and I recall the outdrive being higher up, but could just be different outdrives. Glad nobody gave me any of these after looking at it;

:D
