Does this sound right?

I have a 95 fast strike 150 I’ve changed spark plugs,wires,put new bowls and gaskets on the carbs because they were warped, installed new primer bulb, vapor separator gasket and just now adjusted the idle mixture screws 6 turns out getting around 1100 rpm out of water. The reason I done all this is because it had a very rough idle issue would even die on me at times when I take off, funny thing is I could start it right back up and take off as soon as it starts no problem. My question is how does it sound now to u all? Is it missing? Also before I adjusted idle screws I’m getting a surge when wot.

Sounds normal to me (on muffs). Surge in the water at WOT might be leaning out for some reason.

Idle screws have no affect at WOT. That's why they are called idle screws.

6 turns out? I'm surprised it idles at all. That is 4 or more turns out too much and is running very, very rich at idle. What do the plugs look like?

When you put new bowls and gaskets on the carbs, what else did you do to the carbs?

consider looking for a reason why it might run lean at WOT. Maybe a leak at the carb mounting gasket, lower shaft seal leak.

6 turns out is a good starting point, I start at 5 1/2 on those. Did you clean out the throttle bodies? That will help the idle and off idle. Did you switch over all the jets out of the old bowls into the new? If you forgot one it may still run but really rich, i dont know. The surging at wot could be a fuel restriction. Verify no kinks and good quality 3/8 fuel line.

Thank you all for the feedback I’ll change out the fuel line this weekend and clean the throttle bodies. I also will change the water separator since it doesn’t look like it has been changed in a while.

Get a manual on how to adjust carbs...cannot be done on muffs...
