Does your Volvo engine rocks ?

Hi there !
My 5.7 gxi-h shakes slightly (say about 1/2") left to right at idle otherwise rock steady when revs up. No missing, no strange noise, perfect alignment.
Does yours shakes too ?

sorry.. Revs up at say 2000 rpm and then perfectly steady.
Just wondering if it's normal behaviour for a V8.
I'm about to receive a new rotor+ distribution cap. Already changed ignition coil + spark plug + wires. Maybe it's gonna cure this idle vibration ?

My 5.0 always has also. My 5.3 V8 truck does the same thing at idle. I was told it was the cylinders firing in different directions and at low rpm, they don't cancel eachother out as quickly. Whether this is true or not, I've always had good compression/running with no noises or anything so I don't worry about it. As soon as I barely bump up the throttle it evens out.

The motor mounts are solid, unlike a car/truck which have rubber motor mounts...I'd recommend checking for loose bolts/hardware...just in case. Neither my 5.0FL nor my 5.7GXi budge...hmmm?

I don't think he means it is moving. Mine doesn't actually move, but it has a more noticeable "side to side shimmy" if you want to call it that. It's not obvious unless you get close and stare at it. Like a small vibration. I can assure you everything is tight and in tip-top shape on my end. Maybe Laurent means something different, and if that's the case, I apologize for making it sound normal.

My 5.7 GI has grommets integral with the motor mounts, just replaced a pair because the motor was out and the mounts adjusters frozen.

For the OP, have someone put her in reverse while you're watching each mount and rev her some. If your mount(s) is bad, you'll see it move ...

My 260A is rock steady at 650 rpm...sounds like a sewing machine.
