Dont know what I got ???

Hey,
Went to a sale and saw this boat motor got it for little bit of nothing and dont know what I got. The cover had been sanded and painted and the only thing legible was the serial number on the inside of the motor and it is R7817472 and I do know that it is a Johnson. I have tried everything to find out the year and hp, but have come up empty. Can anyone HELP????

Unless someone with extra sensory perception logs on, might be quicker to post a picture of it.

That is a replacement powerhead ("R"), so even that doesn't help much.

On a couple of occasions I have called Evinrude customer service with say a number from the motor frost plug and they have tried their very best to help me. Their message says they only date vintage motors but just ignore that and ask the question. Best of luck. Rick.
