I was just given a 9.9 Force motor. I need some help with the year it is. The model# is VWB or VWR 52110 and the serial# is 57x 20106. The motor is painted this ugly mustard brown color if thats what you want to call it. There are no tags on the motor other than the serial tag. The only reason I know its a force it my father inlaw has a 92 that is very similar. If anyone can help me on this it would be great I need to buy some parts.

Hi Swanson<br />Well your close. Your motor is a Sea King made by Chrysler marine in 1975. It is actually labeled a 10hp instead of 9.9 (big deal), this bit of triva my help you with finding parts. Sea King was a brand name used by Montgomery Ward. So your motor is a Chrysler motor sold by Wards under the Sea king name. Your ser# I VWB-52110. Chrysler sold out to U.S Marine/Force about 1985-86. I Really don't know the extent of the changes in this line of motors over the years. Some had more changes and others had very little. From your description of the paint scheme, I assume you don't hunt ducks. Thats ok to each their own. If you clean and degreese the motor. Give it a light sanding, smooth up the rough spots. You can repaint it to suit yourself. Take your time and with a couple of rattle cans, it will look like new.

I have never seen Force serial numbers in this format. I believe these are part numbers, not serial numbers. <br /><br />Unlike most other engines, force engines do not have the serial or model number anywhere except the id plate, at least all the force engines that I have seen. This has come up here on the board many times, and no one has been able to give a location for a serial /model number on the block.
